EU takes on China in WTO: China Targets Lithuania for its stance on Taiwan. ~Preet In a strategy that the Chinese call, "Kill the chicken to scare the monkeys", China has been targeting Lithuania, the superficial reason for which is the stance of Lithuania on Taiwan. But the real reason can be other than what is visible in the current scenario. Lithuania's current government, after being elected to power in 2020 has constantly been taking moves against the Chinese interests. The new government of Lithuania embraces a 'value based foreign policy' based on 'democracy' and 'freedom', and has been lauding support for the cause of Taiwan since the formation of the government. There are many geopolitical factors in play as well. The tensions in Eastern Europe over EU and NATO's fallout with Lithuania's aggressive neighbours- Russia and Belarus, adds up to the issue. Lithuania was the first constituent USSR to declare itself independent from the S

USA Federal Reserves: Hike in rate  of interests and its effects on Indian markets. ~Preet. The announcement of the possibility of the US Federal Reserves, hiking the rate of interests, on January 27th 2022, has shook the markets in India, sending shivers down the spine of the investors.  The consumer prices in USA rose vehemently, it was the highest rise in nearly four decades, to tame this 7% inflation, the US Federal reserves would be subsequently increasing the interest rates in the economy from the beginning of March 2022. The unprecedented hike in inflation took the centre stage on the globe in mid 2021, when almost all the countries were facing the issue of immense surge in consumer prices. This issue places a huge economic challenge in-front of a world, already bruised with the scars of pandemic. Most of the countries began taking measures to control the inflation from the very beginning of this year.  The OECD CPI inflation rate for November was around 6%. USA saw the highest

Recalling the point, the administrator argued that “establishing criteria to determine underrepresentation would lead to a reduction in decision-making power for state governments. In addition,  prevailing local conditions, which may need to be taken into account, may not be uniform”. Pointed out that the court in ruling No. -2006 in M Nagara

"Take it all free": The illusions, the realities and  the concerns of Supreme Court. ~Preet From the very first day, this year has been painted in politics and has seen more rallies campaigns than  days. The reason being, assembly elections in 8 states, which are, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, Gujrat and Jammu & Kashmir.  The various political parties, to lure the voters are once again shooting unrealistic promises on en-masse, the shower of freebies promised by the parties certainly seems to be unrealistic, But this time, the Supreme Court is in a mood to take strict action against it. The Supreme Court on Tuesday called for a response from the federal government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) on the ongoing "tamasha" of a political party that promises or distributes "irrational gifts" using public funds. Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana, judge A.S. Bopanna and Heema Kohli informed the Cente

Chaos in Burkina Faso: The Coup displaces the President. ~Preet Burkina Faso which means, "The Land of The Honest Men", a name given to this land locked country in Western Africa by a revolutionary military officer Thomas Sankara who took power in 1983 and was toppled and killed in 1987, might sound good, but definitely does not suits this country given the present political turmoil it is facing. Also this is not the first time when this country is facing an unexpected change in dictum.  Once a French Colony, this country has suffered chronic instability since gaining independence in 1960, including several coups. This country has also been facing grave Islamist insurgency, which arrived from the neighbouring country Mali in 2015. The insurgency and constant skirmishes has defoliated the once important tourism industry, thus hampering the economy. The Islamist Extremist groups has also taken under its control, patches of land of Burkina Faso and are ruling those lands under t

Skyrocketing Electronics Production in India. ~Preet The push for the Idea of Atmanirbhar Bharat, which was pitched by Prime Minister Modi seems to be going in the right direction as the manufacturing and production in India is constantly growing. The vision document, released by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) in association with India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) reveals that India can make $300 billion by the end of 2026. Although it is less than the target of $400 billion by 2025, set by the National Policy on Electronics (NPE) 2019, it is still a great achievement since this has been a tough phase for the nation given the unprecedented challenges brought by the pandemic. The reduced target still seeks to gain a 400% increase over the current level. The electronic manufacturing which was at $37.1 billion in 2015-2016 has grown to $67.3 billion in 2020-2021 even though there were many disruptions due to restrictions to curb the surging COVID cases.  The pol

Taliban in Oslo Talks. ~Preet After the end of 'the never ending war' of United States Of America against Taliban, which was fought with the intention to prevent this terrorist organisation from taking over the government and capturing the nation again, Taliban has clearly won and has assumed the charges and duties of government. Sadly the USA army withdrew from Afghanistan bowing to the terms of Taliban and leaving the faith of the innocent common people of Afghanistan in the hands of Islamic extremists, who have been charged for severe terrorist attacks and human rights violations, and are constantly advocating against the female educational rights. When President George W. Bush signed the resolution authorising the use of force against those involved in the attacks of 9/11, in 2001, which was followed by the military operations beginning from 7th of October 2001, and the retreat of Taliban, no one ever thought that this would end with the insurgents taking over and bringin
