Russia alleged to sponsor terrorism.

Image
~Preet. Ukraine recently asked the US to identify Russia as a "state supporter of terrorism." The designation would trigger the most severe penalties authorised to the US against Russia.  The US Secretary of State (the minister principally in charge of foreign affairs) has the authority to designate countries as "State Sponsors of Terrorism" if they "have persistently given assistance for acts of international terrorism." Sanctions can also be imposed on nations and individuals that participate in specific commerce with designated countries. There are now four nations on the list of state supporters of terrorism.  Syria, Iran, North Korea, and Cuba are all on the list.  There are currently three statutes that allow the Secretary of State to designate a foreign government for providing repeated support for acts of international terrorism: the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, which prohibits the transfer of most aid, the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), which

Human Rights Report on India 2021.

Image
~Preet. The US State Department just published a strong and critical assessment on human rights in India in 2021. The report is submitted to the US Congress each year and is retrospective in nature, containing a country-by-country discussion of the state of internationally recognised individual, civil, political, and worker rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international agreements. The Ministry of Home Affairs released statistics on human rights abuses in states to Rajya Sabha in December 2021. In 2021, the US State Department issued a harsh and scathing evaluation of human rights in India. The report, which is submitted to the US Congress each year, is retrospective in nature, with a country-by-country discussion of the state of internationally recognised individual, civil, political, and worker rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international agreements. Artemis: NASA may hit moon again.

Image
~Preet. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has wheeled out its Artemis I lunar mission to the launchpad for testing at Florida's Kennedy Space Center.  NASA's Artemis project, named after Apollo's twin sister in Greek mythology, is billed as the next phase of lunar exploration. Artemis is also the moon goddess. It is the first in a series of more sophisticated missions that will allow humans to explore the Moon and Mars. NASA's Artemis programme seeks to place people on the moon by 2024, as well as to land the first woman and person of colour on the moon. NASA will build an Artemis Base Camp on the Moon's surface and a gateway (a lunar outpost orbiting the Moon) in lunar orbit to facilitate robot and astronaut exploration. The gateway is a vital component of NASA's long-term lunar activities, serving as a multi-purpose outpost in lunar orbit. Other space agencies are also participating in the Artemis programme.   The NATO Expansionism. ~Preet When Russia launched a military invasion of Ukraine, the ostensible motive for this act of territorial aggression was the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's eastward expansion (NATO). NATO's expansionism threatened to enable Ukraine to join the alliance as a treaty partner at some unspecified moment in the future, bringing this transatlantic security coalition within striking distance of Russia's western frontiers. Earlier, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held an emergency special session to consider a resolution calling for Russia to remove its troops unconditionally. NATO is a military alliance founded in April 1949 by the United States, Canada, and several Western European states to guarantee collective protection against the Soviet Union under the North Atlantic Treaty (also known as the Washington Treaty). The alliance presently has 30 members, with North Macedonia becoming the newest to join in 2020. When NATO was founded i

USA Federal Reserves: Hike in rate  of interests and its effects on Indian markets. ~Preet. The announcement of the possibility of the US Federal Reserves, hiking the rate of interests, on January 27th 2022, has shook the markets in India, sending shivers down the spine of the investors.  The consumer prices in USA rose vehemently, it was the highest rise in nearly four decades, to tame this 7% inflation, the US Federal reserves would be subsequently increasing the interest rates in the economy from the beginning of March 2022. The unprecedented hike in inflation took the centre stage on the globe in mid 2021, when almost all the countries were facing the issue of immense surge in consumer prices. This issue places a huge economic challenge in-front of a world, already bruised with the scars of pandemic. Most of the countries began taking measures to control the inflation from the very beginning of this year.  The OECD CPI inflation rate for November was around 6%. USA saw the highest
